Concert Brass was formed in 2001,
by Ewan Campbell and Alan Mann to give an outlet for the brass musicians
around the area. Currently a non-contesting band, it is a friendly and
encouraging group, pleasing to audiences and consistently being asked
back at gigs. The band was not always non-contesting, having competed in
first and second sections of the London and Southern Counties Region
CCB has in its repertoire a large library of
traditional brass music, much
inherited from the days of the former Hanwell Band and some
more recent aquisitions including some in-house
arrangements and compositions.
We cover a wide variety of styles and genres,
ancient to modern, but always try to give them a brass twist.
do things slightly differently.
Although forrmed on
the basis of a traditional brass band, we have enhanced the musical experience for players and audience
alike by recruiting musicians who can double on instruments not
usually associated with the brass line up. This expands the scope of
tonal quality, versatility and musical styles available, whilst
retaining our brass band routes."
One benefit of this is that any new recruits wanting to learn brass but
already proficient on another instrument will not feel out of place
whilst the band are playing more advanced material, as they will more
than likely have a part on their first instrument, if
not, we'll usually make one!
So non brass playing musicians willing to learn,
bring your first instrument too!
